The sky was blue and the sun was shining over the pitch on January 22nd as the players prepared themselves for the Australian Baseball Leagues All-Star Game of 2016.
As always it was set to be a great night of baseball, beer and of course live music proudly presented by Levi’s® for the third year running.
This year Team Australia was looking to defend their position as champions against the World All-Stars, and an excited crowd gathered at Melbourne Ballpark in Altona to watch America’s favorite pastime.
The evening’s entertainment opened with an awesome performance from Melbourne home grown hip-hop artist REMI, who really got the crowd grooving with tracks off his new album Divas and Demons. Local Indie rock band – The Pretty Littles followed in the lead up to the game, with their own special rendition of the Australian National Anthem that included a cheeky recorder solo.
The first pitch was thrown as the sun set, and despite some good hits in the first innings both teams failed to get a score on the board until the forth, when the All Stars made their mark. Australia kept their cool however and leveled up the score to one all in the sixth, before scoring the final home run of the night, ensuing victory for the Aussies two years in a row. Good job boys!
The evening finished with an epic round of fireworks, and a super fun night was had by all. It was fantastic to see the crowd out and having such a great time in the open air, enjoying the good vibes in the lead up to the Christmas break.
